Large quantities of unlicensed medications have been taken by Department of Health authorities throughout a search of a house in Glengormley.

A male was talked to by department officers about illegally importing and consequently supplying medicines through the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offenses.

He will now be the topic of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: "It is crucial that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medicines can be harmful.

"These kinds of items being sold, normally online, have actually undergone no quality control and there can be no guarantee about their security.
